9 Best LUSH Products and How to Use them

The Best LUSH Products that are worth a cash splash!

Acne, dry skin, pampering, unruly hair and even insomnia, LUSH has been killing it for years and I have only hopped on the band wagon within the last few months. The only time I had ever visited LUSH was for the odd bath bomb or birthday present. However, after suffering from a little bit of anxiety, I decided to treat myself to a little bit of retail therapy. A little birdie told me that bloggers are supposed to share their secrets so if you want to look even a little bit as good as me (God help you) then check out some of the best LUSH products for some pamper inspo!

Initially, I was fairly unsure about LUSH as I am very sceptical about beauty products that promise a better face, longer legs and a new head of hair. It is amazing what bonnie packaging and some clever marketing can do to a persons bank balance.  Ever since I trialled LUSH, I have been smooth, fragrant and broke and the size of my toiletry bag is a bit of a concern.

Grease Lightning Spot Treatment

£6.95

LUSH Grease Lightning Spot Treatment

Suffering from acne, blackheads and/or blemishes? Then Grease Lightning needs to be part of your daily skincare routine as of now. I gave it a try a few months ago and noticed a difference in redness and inflammation nearly overnight. I now use it everyday before my moisturiser. The bottle is only wee but a little definitely goes a long way. Checkout my skincare for acne post to see the cheap and cheerful products that I use for my beast of a face. Grease Lightning Spot Treatment should ideally be used before you go to bed or if you are relaxing at home as I find that it doesn’t really get on very well with my make-up. Grease Lightning doesn’t only have a great name but it is one of the best LUSH products for acne and blackheads.

Sleepy Body Lotion

£7.95 for 95g / £13.95 for 215g

LUSH Sleepy Body Lotion

Shut up and take my money. This is one of the best inventions ever in life. I use this every single night before bed. This is coming from someone who literally doesn’t have time to brush her hair. I make time for Sleepy Body Lotion. This was my first purchase from LUSH and things have only got better. In fact out of all of the best LUSH products, this is my absolute favourite. If you are suffering from insomnia or anxiety, you are going to want to get this potion. Smothering yourself in it will only leave you sleepy, soft and pampered. Nothing is wrong with any of that. In fact, we love it so much that we have given it it’s own review.

Twilight Body Spray

£20

LUSH Twilight Body Spray

This is the alternative to Sleepy Body Lotion. Both products have a beautiful fragrance, dancing in lavender and twirling through tonka. I tend to use this product for a wee ‘scoosh’ when I’m too tired to apply Sleepy Body Lotion. Twilight has been very popular with insomniacs from far and wide with it being in very high demand. You can use it as a body spray or a pillow spray. I also use it when I need a little pick-me-up. As I suffer from anxiety, the smells tend to provide a sense of calm. It may all be a placebo effect but it’s a placebo effect that I will continue to pay for. I really wish I could put the smell on this article, Twilight Spray would sell out almost instantly. Gorgeous!

Vanishing Cream Facial Moisturiser

£18.95

LUSH Vanishing Cream Facial Moisturiser

It took me 25 years and a small fortune to find a moisturiser that would finally work for me. My skin is primarily oily, blemished and loaded with blackheads (lucky me). All of the moisturisers I was previously using were sitting heavily on my skin and contained a heap of not-so-natural hidden nasties. I did some research and found that Vanishing Cream was a popular choice for those both with oily skin and for anti-ageing and fine lines. It might seem expensive at £18.95 for just a little tub but you need less than a finger dip to cover your whole face and it sinks in almost instantly. Use it after your cleanser and Grease Lightning Spot Treatment for a fresh face.

LUSH Honey, I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar

£6.50

I was VERY dubious about solid shampoo and when I first heard it about, I thought it would last one or two washes. This stuff is literally gold dust. I got it reduced in a Christmas gift box and thought it would sit in the bathroom and gather dust (as do many toiletries in our house) but wow! My hair is really long and really thick and it knots like no tomorrow. This shampoo bar has been my saving grace. Not only does it smell sweet and not over-bearing but it travels very well.

One of the reasons I am falling further in love with LUSH is because it is attempting to eradicate excess packaging where possible. Honey, I Washed My Hair Shampoo Bar comes with no plastic wrapping whatsoever and if I can do my little bit for our oceans whilst having hair like a mermaid, then I am there for it. Also, LUSH does not test on animals, an added bonus.

Silky Underwear Dusting Powder

£6.50

LUSH Silky Underwear Dusting Powder

Silky Underwear is the perfect replacement for talcum powder. I have used talcum powder since forever because it sooks up under-boob sweat and thigh chafing (not everybody is a supermodel). The problem with talcum powder is that it has recently had some very bad press after a woman in America won 400 million dollars in a claim against Johnson and Johnson following on from a diagnosis of ovarian cancer. Findings are mixed but scientists have said there is a small cancer risk in using talcum powder around your fairy garden.

Due to this, I have eliminated talcum powder completely and have decided to use a more natural dusting powder. Silky Underwear contains cornstarch and cocoa butter so it leaves your skin feeling lovely and soft. I have also found that it is a winner for helping with the symptoms of thrush. Silky Underwear is one of the best LUSH products for the Summer months when your legs are maybe a little more prone to rubbing together.

Naked Shower Gel

£3.95 / £14.50

I couldn’t pick just one. My shower is full of naked shower gels following on from Christmas and for good reason. I love that I can get squeaky clean without the need for recycling and unnecessary packaging potentially ending up with the fishes. There are a whole variety of naked products in LUSH from bath bombs to massage bars and shower gels. The naked products are the best LUSH products for the environment as they don’t come with any packaging. I am currently using Rose Jam naked shower gel which smells divine. It is currently unavailable in shower gel form but there is a Rose Jam body spray available which I am going to pick up. The one that seems to be trending at the moment is ‘Tender is the Night’ which I am SO keen for trying out. Smother it up in the shower.

Coalface Facial Soap

£8.34

This is an ace of face soap for shower shelving and it saves you taking your cleanser into the shower (then forgetting it’s there and not washing your face at night-time). Coalface contains anti-septic rosewood along with sandalwood and charcoal for absorbing oil. It seems expensive for a bar of soap but I don’t think it will ever run out. I have used it every day for 2 months but it is barely down by 10% on when I got it. It is gentle enough to be used on your face but you can also use it all over your body (although you should really use a naked shower gel = YUM). It does have a strong liquorice like smell so maybe avoid it if you aren’t a fan of all-sorts.

Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub

£9.95 for 350g / £16.50 for 665g

So this is supposed to be a shower scrub but I use it as a shampoo for volume and beach babe hair. If you can even be a beach babe in Scotland where it is permanently Baltic. My hair is wild and I tend to wash it once a week (or twice) if I’m showing off. Seeing as I don’t wash it that often I tend to use Rub Rub Rub to get out the weeks nasty before using the Honey, I washed my hair shampoo bar. Voila, I am a wonderfully hairy fairy. This has a relatively manly smell so if you know a man who likes a pamper, this is one for him!

Lush

LUSHIE Loving

I am an out and out LUSH lover but I wasn’t always. Everything I have recommended I have started using in the last few months and these are the best LUSH products I have found so far. The more I grow as a LUSHIE, the more awesome recommendations I will have for you lot. In the meantime, have a wee nosy and if you do try any of the above, let me know how you get on.
