An incredibly honest review.
I like to save money on anything I possibly can. Until around a year ago, I used to buy only the cheap and cheerful skincare ranges. My moisturiser was usually a basic looking tub promising miracles with a low price tag.
I varied in choices, mainly buying whatever was on offer and to be honest, I wasn’t really all that bothered. Hell, my grandmother grew up using anti-bacterial bum cream on her face and she was never ever bothered with spots or blackheads. In fact, for being about 200 years old, she looks pretty crisp. Unfortunately, I have never been taken with using bum cream on my face.
Recently, my skin started to take a turn for the worse, it wasn’t quite gremlin bad, but for me it was bad. I noticed that I was starting to get a sore and unpleasant looking cluster of spots together. The thing is that people will tell you that these things aren’t noticeable, but it doesn’t make any difference. Spots can seriously knock your self confidence and carrying a mug around on your face isn’t practical. I decided, to buy myself some of the ‘posh’ skincare, to see if it made any difference to my extra-terrestrial face.
So here I was, sauntering up to the Clinique make-up counter with all guns blazing. There were babies crying and people running for cover. Here was this perfectly, polished, pretty young girl at the counter. She was very helpful and didn’t try and force to me to buy shares in the company.
She introduced me to her friends; cleanser, face wash and moisturiser. All of whom stood on the shelf proudly in all their shiny and bank balance hammering glory. I was desperate. She asked me what I was currently using on my face. I refrained from telling her a blowtorch and a sanding block, although it did look like it by this point.
Moisturiser was the first that came forward and took a bow, it had my attention and I was ready to step way out of my comfort zone. I had to try something new and give up my unhelpful methods. She tried the moisturiser on my hand and it did seem nice and soft. However as far as I am concerned, the skin on your hands is different to the skin on your face.
It came in a cutesy little 150ml bottle with a pump, looking almost lemon colour with no fragrance. £30 later and me and ‘Dramatically different’ were going home to get a little better acquainted ;). I have to be honest, when I spend £30 on a bottle that size, I want to be using it. Therefore, I was literally in the door and into pyjamas, with my make-up off in record time.
The first time I tried it, I noticed it is very, light and less like a cream and more like one of those fancy little gels that they put on plates in cookery programmes. It is very thin and light and only using a tiny bit has great ground cover. It does instantly make your face feel very refreshed. With the name, ‘Dramatically different’, I was expecting to wake up in the morning and look like Eva Longoria… I am still the same old me, however I do have a cute little glow about me which was something I hadn’t seen in some time.
Looking at the ingredients, I am told that it is clinically approved which is great. The product is oil-free, which is amusing because I have a really oily ‘t-zone’ apparently and I was using a moisturiser containing oil. I was literally just greasing my face up like a fried egg everyday. Then putting powder over the top to conceal this, making everything worse. I like that this product isn’t really thick and creamy, it feels really soft and thin on my face.
I have been using this product twice a day since I dragged my fiancé round the Black Friday sales. It is barely a 5th of the way down the bottle. This makes me a happy lady, the £30 is worth it and more if it means your facial condition is improving. I am no longer wasting money every month on cheap gunk that does nothing but add grease with little or no benefits.
Overall, Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel is a winner and has come from its prized place on the shelf in the shop to its prized place on my bedside table, making me a new and faithful Clinique customer. I would recommend this to anyone who is fed up of slapping questionable crap on their face. Check it out here. Make the investment as you will not be disappointed!
