Okay so firstly, I should probably say that I cry pretty much every time I get something with recognition of The Aye Life on it. It doesn’t take much. Our local coffee shop did The Aye Life on top of a latte for me once and I was basically inconsolable. Then there was that time we were in The Press and Journal, more tears. When we did a dinner review in Fraserburgh and the wee welcome board said: “Welcome The Aye Life.” And now this stunning Harris Tweed cushion from Lily Hamilton Gifts which is probably the best of the lot. Four years ago, The Aye Life wasn’t even a thing, now it’s our whole life.

Lily Hamilton Gifts is a wee family-run business which opened in 2020 (cause good things do happen in 2020). It is based in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital. It has some of the most amazing, wild landscapes and rugged coastlines in the world, not to mention the awesome wildlife. And this cushion is a wee slice of Scotland. It’s coorie, it’s cosy and it looks lovely in our front room.
Classic and Coorie 
I have cushions on a rotating system. They come into the house, feature on the sofas for a few weeks then get piled into the vestibule or junk room, as it’s otherwise known. We sort out the vestibule every couple of months with copious runs to the dump. But then the same thing happens and before we know it we are knee-deep in junk again. I don’t know how we acquire what we do, I don’t even shop that much! I think we maybe have a hoarding problem pertaining to just one room. So Scott’s face was a picture when I said we were getting another cushion. But when we opened this parcel, even he commented on how expensive and classic the cushion looked.
