Scent Me On My Way
When a friend of a friend of a cousin of a friend contacted me to let me know they were sending me good vibes and good smells, I wasn’t complaining. Especially when I found out said vibes and scents were coming from a Scottish business. Not sure if you’ve noticed yet, but I’m kinda keen on Scotland and all it has to offer. And as soon as I got a whiff (puns included) of Strength In Beauty, I knew this biz was speaking scents. On so many levels.
My first experience with Strength In Beauty was in my grannies kitchen at Christmas. She had what looked like a very tasty advent calendar on her wall and I was moments away from nicking a piece until I found out that these unknown wrapped goodies were actually wax melts. Wax melts are not to be eaten. Apparently. Although they smell good enough to eat. Especially if you’re partial to a black pomegranate.
Steph Milne, the founder at Strength in Beauty has been a massage therapist for years and offers a range of tailor-made treatments to humans with aches and pains.
Strength In Beauty
Alongside being a massage goddess of life, Steph has always had an interest in lifestyle and relaxation. Strength in Beauty is all about reminding people to take a little bit of “me time” and in such a fast-paced world, we couldn’t agree more. But not everyone has the time to squeeze in a massage, nor can we always afford to. But we definitely can afford to put our feet up now and then, and Steph at Strength In Beauty has created a range of beautifully scented wax melts, room fragrances, and diffusers which elevate “me time” to a whole new level. She has even created adorable and fashionable car diffusers, for a little bit of sweet, sweet loving on the go.
Dark Horse and Dolce Vita
I took one of the room sprays with me on a recent trip to Sea Yonder, a holiday home in Buckie. The King’s pals were all coming round for his birthday. There was a hot tub and one main bathroom. The combination of chlorine, an over-used bathroom, party food and a whole bunch of drunk people called for a scent-buster. I brought Dark Horse, a powerful unisex plum and black pomegranate room and linen mist, which hid all the evidence and left me with a sly smile. At only £7 a bottle, this room mist is a total bargain. I barely used any, yet the holiday cottage smelled incredible. My bottle hasn’t left my handbag since we got home but only because I’m using another one of the room mists around our house; Dolce Vita. Dolce Vita, also a unisex spray, has notes of blackcurrant, Italian bergamot, pineapple, and French apple.
Now, to put it bluntly, Aye 2.0 doesn’t give a donkey’s bum about the scents around the home. He never sprays the bathroom when he’s finished and he only ever puts on a candle when we wants some… Now the man with no common scents walked through to me one day saying, “the bedroom smells amazing, what is that smell?” THE MAN NOTICED. One-Nil Strength In Beauty.
Black Plum and Rhubarb Home Diffuser
I was dubious x 10 about this scent, purely because I have enjoyed far too many a cocktail including both plum and rhubarb, and I don’t need no reminders. But the scent which wafts from this diffuser is beautiful. It makes the house smell like a show home or like that friend’s house which always smells amazing and you think “how?!” It takes pride of place on our mantelpiece. We have quite a big living room so I’m never sure how much of a difference fragrance melts, diffusers or candles will make to the room, but Strength In Beauty’s Black Plum and Rhubarb Home Diffuser holds its own.
Designer Inspired Wax Melt Collection
Oh me. Everything is right with this collection. Each wax melt is inspired by a designer fragrance and why has it taken so long for this to be a thing? I am a big fan. “She’s a lady” is very similar to Lady Million and “La Bomba” takes inspiration from my favourite fragrance, Flower Bomb. But that’s not all, there are wax melts similar to Coco Mademoiselle, Daisy, and La Vie Est Belle.
Wax melts seem to be increasing in popularity, particularly those which are kind to the environment. Strength In Beauty melts use soy wax, vegan certified fragrance oil, and zero dyes. This brand feels strongly that we should not compromise our impact on the environment for our own personal enjoyment. It’s exciting to see a Scottish brand working so intently to protect the climate.
